Day Skipper (Local Waters) PDF Print E-mail

NB. You cannot sail a yacht in SA waters unless you have a Day Skippers licence approved by SA Sailing & you cannot sail a yacht at night unless you have a valid Day Skipper ( Local Waters ) ticket. Minimum requirement for this course is a valid Day Skippers Ticket.

This course bridges the gap between Day and Coastal Skipper. The Local Waters skipper is competent to 1. Take out a yacht as skipper by day or night in his/her local waters. 2. Captain a watch on any passage by day or by night.

Syllabus:

  • The candidate must have a sound understanding of the Day Skipper's syllabus plus the following important aspects:
  • Colregs and IALA
  • Local Knowledge
  • Navigational disciplines on a Coastal Passage
  • Night sailing.

Duration: Normally 4 evenings run over 4 weeks ( i.e. once a week )or 4 consecutive weekday evenings, however we liase with you individually and plan times to suit you. Please feel free to contact us.

Instructor to Student Ratio: Max. 1: 4 or less. 
Cost: R2800pp.
